Let Gum Under The Table Take You on a Journey Through Underground Poetry

November 21, 20232 min read

Mitchell Sob, known as gum under the table, is an underground rap artist on the rise.

Growing up, music was always playing an important role in Mitchell's life. Although he's not from a musical or artistic family, he was inspired by the likes of $uicideboy$, Freddie Dredd, and Xavier Wulf to pursue music. His first music teacher was an old lady he remembers from first grade, and the first instrument he learned to play was the recorder.

When asked about the origin of his artist name, gum, it came from a night out tagging a few years ago. His buddy's and he were throwing up tags, and he threw up a gum tag. And over the years it just slowly stuck like a piece of gum under the table. The first concert he ever went to was Yung Gravy.

When describing his music, Mitchell says it's "underground poetry." He also explained his creative process is just going over lots of different words in his head and getting it to fit all together. His main inspiration for music is being broke and broken. He admires the Wu-tang Clan the most, and his one message to fans is to "flow like water."

Mitchell's fans are real mf's, and he creates for both himself and them. When it comes to music, he prefers to create it, but he also loves to listen to it. His style hasn't changed much since the beginning of his career, and he doesn't have a main competitor. He believes it's very important to learn, study, and understand old music and music history. If he could have a musician tag along with him on tour for one month, he'd choose his friend, Keyanzo.

The best part about being an artist for Mitchell is being able to speak his mind. He believes the most useful skills in the music industry are the ability to work together because you can't get very far on your own. To handle frequent travels and being away from home for long periods of time, he would just get homesick but it wouldn't bother him.

His email is [email protected], and you can check out his music on Soundcloud at https://soundcloud.com/gum-under-the-desk/937-pm.
